PLAY BALL!

Grandson Knox and his team played their first T Ball game of the season tonight.
His team was first to bat

Knox is easy to spot in his white helmet. Watching these teams fielding is fun and funny and always chaotic.

Knox played first base toward the end of the game. His team lost this one by four runs I think. Good game and they all played well and seemed to enjoy it. Lots more games ahead.

His cousin Elijah read his birthday cards to him
More goodies ...
... and then some more
Great-aunt Jane and family got him some cool headphones, super hero style
Birthday carnage ~ he was pretty much thrilled with all of it
Grandpa, Daddy, Elijah, and Knox figuring out how to work the bow and arrow
Knox couldn't wait to get started building one of those Lego sets ... with Daddy's help of course
Captain America enjoyed the party, too
Photo shoot with family and the Birthday Boy ~ his cousin Elijah, Aunt Holly, and cousin Shelby
Knox with cousin Sarah, great-aunt Jane, and great-uncle Don
His cousin Julia was late to the party but better late than never

ELIJAH'S 10TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

Grandson Elijah turned 10 years old on August 17, 2016. He celebrated turning the BIG ONE O with a party at his house today with friends and family. His cake was decorated with a hunting theme. He and the other kids enjoyed the giant water slide, which has become a fun tradition for his summer birthday. The best part of all, of course, was opening his presents--cash and video games and T shirts to name a few. Wow. A whole decade old! Happy Birthday, 'Lijah-Man!! We love you very much!!

AT THE BARBER SHOP ~ KNOX GETS A FAUX MOHAWK

Grandson Knox needed a haircut. He's been wanting to get a Mohawk, so that's what he told his barber, Russell, who owns Village Barber Shop. After a quick conference to make sure they were all on the same page, Russell and Knox's mom Kelly settled on a faux Mohawk--pretty much a regular short haircut but with the classic Mohawk styling. Knox was very pleased with the results and afterward kept asking us if his Mohawk was still there. We assured him that it was. Here are a few snapshots from the making of the faux Mohawk. Great job, Russell!

FUN AT THE FAIR WITH GRANDSON KNOX

Grandson Knox was excited [to say the least] to go to the Putnam County Fair. He rode the rides made for his size, and he even rode the big Ferris wheel [the single not the double] once with his mom and once with his grandpa. We sat in the grandstand and watched a monster truck fly over a row of cars [a first for us ~ it was insanely loud but pretty cool to see]. He rode the merry go round with Grandpa and then, for the first time ever, rode it all by himself and lived to tell the tale. He fished for a prize, caught a bunch, and picked out a frog. We didn't go in to see the 'amazing animals' although they did have a five-legged goat on display. His most favorite ride was the giant slide. He climbed all the way to the top and swooshed down all by himself three times. He would have done it a thousand times more, but the adults were pooped and ready to go home at nine o'clock. The fair was loud and colorful and more fun than human beings should be allowed to have. And that awesome sunset was just icing on the funnel cake. Scroll down for some snapshots of our time at the fair.
