PIECES OF APRIL

April 2 ~ God paints awesome sunsets
April 2 ~ Dogwood bloom (shot at night with flash~turned out not too shabby)
April 4 ~ random backyard sky pic ~ sky is one of my favorite subjects
April 6 ~ my beautiful granddaughter Shelby shakes things up and goes blond
April 7 ~ sunset sky at the ballpark
April 12 ~ Crows have been showing up in my backyard lately to enjoy the birdseed that's fallen to the ground ~ I'm always amazed by how huge these birds are ~ this one was at least a foot long from beak to tip of tail feathers
April 12 ~ Can you find the crow in the tangle of tree limbs?
April 12 ~ our meager Iris crop this year
April 12 ~ grandson Elijah showing his cousin Knox some moves on trampoline
April 15 ~ I enjoy the drive to daughter Holly's house out in the country
April 15 ~ Electric department has been moving our phone/electric/cable poles out of the street and into our front yards, which means the lines will stretch right over our front yards and in a lot of cases run through trees ~ Nobody on our street wants this or likes it, but nothing we can do but accept it ~ some kind of city ordinance that says the poles can't sit in the street ~ where they've been sitting for decades, no harm, no foul ~ seems totally unnecessary to us, but again, nothing to be done about it ~ I feel sorry for those who will lose trees just to make room for a pole
April 15 ~ That's one big drill
April 15 ~ when he's at our house, grandson Knox and his grandpa build cool stuff with wooden blocks and Tinker Toys, the same ones our daughters played with about three decades ago
April 15 ~ This is the castle they crafted where Star Wars creatures, bad guys, good guys and droids line the castle walls and battle it out in a galaxy far far away ~ for some reason, Darth Vader and Han Solo are on the same team ~ see, if they can get along, then there's hope for all of us earthlings
April 16 ~ This is a new growth fern unfurling its fronds ~ that tall one in focus looks like it has eyes and is shaking its curly fist at something (probably me for invading his space and taking his picture)
April 16 ~ One of our gorgeous deep pink Azaleas ~ Neil has planted more of these this spring
April 18 ~ Another day in the bucket for the electric company as they move the poles back ~ just under the bucket, you can see the new one about to be set ~ this is our neighbor's yellow maple ~ the lines will run through it now
April 22 ~ Full moon
April 23 ~ Niece Julia, dressed up for Prom and looking like a Greek goddess, poses in the family backyard with her dad Don, sister Sarah, and mom Jane before she heads off to enjoy this night of nights with her date and friends ~ so hard to believe she's ready to graduate in three weeks

Almost done with April. Not sure where it all went or how it got away from me so fast.

KNOX'S FIRST PEE WEE T BALL GAME

Grandson Knox was very excited to finally play his very first T Ball game in the Algood Youth Baseball League, Pee Wee Division. His team is the Boston Red Sox. They played the Braves.
Knox at bat
Racing to first base
Coming down the stretch from third base to home plate
Score! Actually, I don't think they keep score. Knox got three runs.
He did very well in fielding the ball
Running the ball to first base
Good sportsmanship. Knox was tired after it was over but he had a great time playing his first game.  Both teams played a good game. Go Red Sox!

“April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. (Sonnet XCVIII)” ― William Shakespeare

"The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March."
-  Robert Frost, Two Tramps in Mud Time, 1926
