It’s a treat to get to spend time with Shelby when she can get away from school for a weekend.
My niece Julia celebrated her 24th birthday today

We enjoyed several days at the beach. Here is a link if you’re interested in checking out the pics:

Our backyard red maple
I don’t know what this game is called, but they all had fun playing it.

He liked the stem on this one

Hanging out at the orthopedic doc, waiting for Halloween and a shot in my shoulder
Finishing off the sunflower seeds
Hard to believe it’s already ’that’ time of year again

My favorite color is October

That happy happy joy joy face you make when your favorite Thai food restaurant
reopens after a year and a half of being closed because of the virus. The last time we ate here
was back in March of 2020.
Ella enjoyed her Halloween party and trick or treating at Mother’s Day Out and came
away with this bag full of goodies. (She’d already taken off her ‘Elsa’ (Frozen) costume)
October 30
Our church congregation’s Trunk or Treat was moved inside the gym where it was warm and dry, although
some did set up their trunks outside under the carport. Enjoyed a meal and the kids
sang some songs before the trick or treating began.
Jane, Holly, and Neil ready with lots of candy
Knox wore his Fortnite Fishstick Pirate costume
Ella dressed as Elsa from Frozen
I don’t think Ella realized that was her grandpa in that scary clown mask
Shelby came in this weekend from school for the Halloween festivities. I didn’t recognize her
at first with her new darker hair color. Looking good!

My sister Jane celebrated her BIG SIX O today! She wears it so well.

Halloween 2021
My favorite holiday tradition ~ the young kids and old(er) kids
dress up in creative costumes ~ we eat chili and Fritos ~ the kids young and old(er)
go trick or treating in the neighborhood ~ we hand out a ton of candy to the many
trick or treaters who come our way ~ we eat way too much candy but
who can resist ~ we enjoy being together and having fun and hope
to do it all over again next year
Ella and her mom Kelly dressed up as Elsa and Anna, the sisters in Frozen
Knox dressed up as his favorite anime character Deku
I’m so glad the Foys always join us for Halloween ~ just wouldn’t be as fun without them
From left: Sarah, Don, Jane, and Julia
Don dressed up as … himself ~ Holly was a lumberjack ~ Shelby was Miss Chanandler Bong (if
you’re a fan of Friends then you get the reference) ~ Julia was a cat
Party people Knox and Jane
Sarah was a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) skeleton
Headed out in search of candy
I love that my older peeps still dress up and trick or treat
Chanandler Bong and the lumberjack
Actually, it’s MISS Chanandler Bong
So glad Shelby got to be here for the Halloween fun ~ hated that she had
to drive back to school tonight, though
We watched the Braves and the Astros play game 5 of the World Series
This crowd is rooting for the Braves
Love my sweet Halloween peeps
Elijah and Kiara partied with their friends tonight but stopped by to say hi
and give me the opportunity to snap this picture of them
Elijah was a fireman and Kiara was a Dalmation
Happy Halloween!

“He loved October. Had always loved it. There was something sad and beautiful about it—the ending and beginning of things.”
~Jacqueline Woodson, If You Come Softly

“I wish that every day was Saturday and every month was October.”
~Charmaine J. Forde

I should be over it now, I know
It doesn't matter much how old I grow
I hate to see October go
