CHILDREN LEFT UNATTENDED WILL BE SOLD TO THE CIRCUS

circus ticket
My family and I went to the circus last night ~ first one I’ve been to since my kids were little.

Grandson Elijah [seated in the middle] brought his cousin Matthew and his good buddy Anthony.
IMG_3792
This was grandson Knox’s first circus. He was probably wondering what in the world was going to happen here, hopefully something awesome.
IMG_3793
Before the show began, you could ride a camel….
IMG_3799
….or ride an elephant. No one in my family was adventurous enough to do this.
IMG_3801
Daughter Kelly and son in law Kerry ~ this was Kerry’s first circus, too.
IMG_3803
It’s a law that you have to eat cotton candy when you’re at the circus. Knox ~ still wondering what was going to happen.
IMG_3804
Daughter Holly with her buddy [and nephew] Knox who was pretty much glued to her lap the whole time. Smile? Grimace?
IMG_3808
I know for a fact that cotton candy makes everything more fun.
IMG_3809
Knox gnawed on his cone of cotton candy like it was a big old turkey leg.
IMG_3811
Oops! One of the clowns got loose. No, wait, that’s just hubby Neil waiting for the show to start. [Actually, there was only one clown in this circus and not what you’d consider a traditional clown, just a guy dressed in a red suit and a sombrero. Very disappointing.]
IMG_3814
Still waiting. Still wondering. By this time, Knox had a cotton candy beard and mustache and not a little on his nose. Totally worth it. Good thing his mom had wet wipes.
IMG_3816
Last time I was at a circus, the ringmaster was a guy in a tuxedo with a top hat. Our ringmaster was a very beautiful lady who introduced all the acts.
IMG_3817
Tigers jumped through hoops of [real] fire.
IMG_3824
One of the tigers was not a happy camper. [This is why, thankfully, they’re in cages.]
IMG_3840
These acrobats were fun to watch.
IMG_3863
A vendor kept walking back and forth, selling light sabers. Grandpa couldn’t resist and bought some for the guys.
IMG_3869
The camels were neat. They ran in circles and stood on stools and took a bow. [I kept thinking, “Hump DAY!!]
IMG_3878
The acrobats could also juggle with precision.
IMG_3882
Who new Hoola Hoops could be so much fun?
IMG_3893
Another group of acrobats/gymnasts had these kids from the audience line up and then bounced off a trampoline and flew through the air over their heads.
IMG_3895
Playing with the light saber during intermission
IMG_3896
More fun than pint-sized human beings should be allowed to have.
IMG_3906
Flying poodles
IMG_3933
It wouldn’t be a circus without elephants!
IMG_3934
They are such smart animals and so BIG.
IMG_3943
But they seem sweet. At least they didn’t try to make a break for it like one of the camels did during his gig.
IMG_3954
Last but not least, guys on motorcycles raced around inside this giant ball while these [crazy?] ladies stood there and let them do it. Yikes.
Good times with family at the circus!

  1. Fun! So did Knox like it? Can't really tell from the pics. :) Maybe they don't have traditional clowns any more because people are freaked out by them. Ha! Looks like a fun night!

    1. I think he liked it. He never got bored :) We were in such a hurry to get out of there before the mass exit, that I didn't get a chance to talk to him about it. It was fun for us!
