Went for a walk around the neighborhood ~ I was walking backwards taking this picture as they watch me almost back into a parked car ~ at least they were kind enough to give me fair warning

Kelly and Kerry ~ our turkey day hosts with the mosts
Neil snapped this selfie

We rewarded our effort to burn some calories by pigging out on pies when we got back ~ Shelby made this yummy Reese's Peanut Butter pie
Jane made a pumpkin pie using Don's mom's recipe, Don made whipped cream from scratch, and Kelly made a chocolate fudge pie using Kerry's mom's recipe ~ to die for good
Jerry killed the deer and he and Holly made the jerky ~ yum!

Thanksgiving Peeps
Sister Ann and hubby Terry joined us after a dinner at Terry's mom and dad's home ~ thanks for the sister pic, Kelly!

After pie, it was back outside for an energetic game of kickball ~ they played until it got too dark to see
A fun game of Apples To Apples rounded out the day
We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving together.
We thank God for blessings too numerous to count.
Good food, fun, and family.

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, KELLY!

Our daughter Kelly turned 40 today
40 looks great on her!

Celebrating with family

Instead of the traditional birthday cake, Kelly chose pies~~delicious chocolate and coconut cream made from scratch from a local restaurant that knows how to do desserts. Also had a cookie cake for the non-pie party people. So good!
Lots of flat presents which usually include some cash
And a lot of haha you're 40 cards
Her sister Holly and family gave her this awesome 31 tote with some birthday goodies inside
Turning 40 wasn't all that bad, was it?
Happy Birthday, Kelly!
Wishing you all the best things in the year to come and hope all your 40th birthday wishes comes true!
We love you so much!!

Hello, November!

“In November, people are good to each other. They carry pies to each other's homes and talk by crackling wood stoves, sipping mellow cider. They travel very far on a special November day just to share a meal with one another and to give thanks for their many blessings - for the food on their tables and the babies in their arms.”

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2016

BOO, Y'all! The orange pumpkin I bought to carve for a jack o' lantern didn't make it to Halloween, so I carved a white or ghost pumpkin. That's a first. I like it.
Our traditional Halloween chili supper ~ at the table from left: daughter Holly, granddaughter Shelby, sister Jane, and bro-in-law Don.
For once it isn't me who has something growing out of my head in a picture. That wreath looks good on you, Don. He handed out candy to the trick or treaters this evening.
Two tables, no waiting. From left: daughter Kelly, Kelly's (and our) good friends Addelyn, Kelly, and Daniel Hodge, son-in-law Kerry, and grandson Knox
Around the table from left: daughter Holly, granddaughter Shelby, sister Jane, bro-in-law Don, hubby Neil, and niece Julia
Yummy cupcakes

Elijah~Spy Guy
Holly's all decked out for Halloween~love those tights~nice little hat, too
Shelby channeled Negan from The Walking Dead
Julia is very creative and always makes the best costumes
Pumpkin Addelyn with Mom and Dad
Grandson Knox had so many super hero Halloween costumes that he couldn't decide what he wanted to be ~ so he wore a mash-up of Batman, Captain America, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Black Panther, and at one point Bumblebee the Transformer (more than meets the eye)
It simply would not be Halloween without son-in-law Jerry decked out in his camo and werewolf/wolfman costume, scaring all the little kids and their parents half to death. He hides behind
trees, impossible to see, then ambushes the unsuspecting trick or treaters when they least expect it. Priceless.
Halloween spirit ~ From top left: Holly, Shelby, daughter Kelly (love those devil horns)
From middle left: Julia and Elijah
Front from left: Addelyn and Knox (who changed into his Bumblebee mask for the group shot)
I really missed niece Sarah who was working on the Children's Theater production of Beauty and the Beast (in rehearsal at the moment) so she couldn't join us tonight. Her mom shared this picture of her (and family kitty Louis) in her Halloween costume she wore for a party (like her sister Julia, Sarah is also very creative). Missed you, Sarah! Wasn't the same without you.
Another Halloween come and gone. It's probably my favorite holiday. Love that my fabulous family loves it, too. So glad we could be together again on October 31.
Hope your Halloween was spooky good fun, too
