SPRING TRAINING

Grandson Knox will be playing Pee Wee T Ball this season, his first time on the diamond. Practice starts next week.
Grandpa gave him some batting lessons this afternoon. It's important to have the right stance.
Grandson Elijah gave his cousin Knox pointers on how to hold the bat. Elijah is an old pro, playing since he was about five.
Line those feet up next to the plate and angle your body just so
 Swing straight and not down
I think he's got it! Knox says when he plays, he'll hit a home run. Can't wait to see it.
Grandpa gave Elijah some pitching tips ~ he should have played in the major leagues (or maybe kid's pitch?)
Happy dancing because it's almost spring and they'll be out on the ball field soon.
Happy TGIF, everyone! Happy Dance!

“The fight isn't over until you win.” ― Robin Hobb

We enjoyed watching grandson Elijah’s coach’s pitch baseball team [Algood] play in the AYBL County All-Star Tournament. Tonight the last two teams standing played the final game. Elijah’s team won first place!

The two teams played hard, but Algood won 12 to 3.

Way to go, Elijah and team Algood! Your awesome batting and fielding and good sportsmanship paid off. This is Elijah’s last coach’s pitch game. Time to move on and move up to the next level.

"Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'" — Robin Williams

Spring Break--Week Two  Grandson Elijah and granddaughter Shelby spent the day with me. We joined Neil at Steak n Shake for lunch. Elijah loves to play the "claw machine". He's won a few times. He snagged this stuffed Steak n Shake Sizzle Burger on his second try. Not too shabby.

Shelby amused herself with a quarter, stopping it with her finger while it was still spinning. She's really good at it.

Lunch! I prefer a dawg to a burger. Was good.

The weather today was perfect. It just doesn't get any better than this. We went for a walk after lunch and stopped in the street to take a shadow selfie which we all photo bombed. It was so bright I couldn't see the shot I was getting on my cell phone screen [I look like I'm impaled on a stick]

We stopped by daughter Kelly's house to visit her and grandson Knox, and I managed to get the three grandpeeps all together in the same photo.

Shelby and Elijah played a little volleyball using the brick wall as a net.

Smiley Face

Blue sky. More, please!

“She turned to the sunlight And shook her yellow head, And whispered to her neighbor: "Winter is dead.” ― A.A. Milne, When We Were Very Young

You could not have ordered a more beautiful day. In a word, perfection.

Kelly and Knox came over this afternoon and brought bubbles which are a must on such a day as this.

Playing the blues on the bubble horn. It didn’t take long for Knox to get the hang of it.

A dish of D.Q. ice cream with sprinkles is also a must on an almost-Spring day. Delish!

Neil didn’t get to play today. He was up on the roof, removing our chimneys that serviced fireplaces we will no longer be using.  A tree fell on our roof last October and made a mess. Tomorrow (we hope) the roofers will be coming and we will be replacing the whole roof with a shiny new metal roof. Stay tuned. Wishing everyone a blue sky, sunshiny week!

IT’S TIME FOR FALL BALL, Y’ALL!

0908141808
Grandson Elijah played first base this evening in his team’s first ABYL “Fall Ball” game at the ball park in Algood.
0908141809
He did very well and got several outs. He’s on a different team with different kids and coaches this time. They all hit and fielded well and hopefully had a good time.
0908141815a
Here he is, running like the wind to first base after smacking the ball. In Fall Ball, it’s more of a practice/fun type game, and it’s up to the coaches whether or not they want to keep score, which they did in this game (makes it more fun in my humble opinion). Elijah’s team won the game, 17 to 9. They’re off to a good start. Fun times at the ballpark!

HAKUNA MATATA

0518141815a
We turned Grandson Knox loose in Dogwood Park this afternoon, and he took off running. It was an awesome day to be outside ~ felt like Fall which is always all right with me. Knox has been singing ‘Hakuna Matata’ from The Lion King lately. I think it might be his new favorite song. It’s a problem free philosophy, don’t ya know.

He was running so fast, I don’t think his feet ever touched the ground. Neil and I just sat and watched him zoom around. Thanks for the pic, Kelly!

After the park and some supper, we hit Big O Donut Shop to check out their goodies. Their donuts are really … big!

Knox enjoyed his cinnamon donut so much that he had cinnamon and sugar in his hair, down his shirt, on his lap, and on the floor. Thanks again for the pic, Kelly! He’ll probably be jitterbugging the rest of the night from the sugar high. But, hey, no worries! It’s all good.
