Neil calls them 'thermals'
Thermals are created by the uneven heating of Earth's surface from solar radiation, and are an example of convection, specifically atmospheric convection.Thermals are often indicated by the presence of visible cumulus clouds at the top of the thermal. So says Wikipedia.
Don't say I never taught ya nothin'

Target practice at a local indoor shooting range with our .22
Neil is a way better shot than I am
Shooting is fun
But it's really loud
It's been about 5 or 6 years since we last practiced
I didn't even hit the target my first two shots but I did get better
Shelby and her brother Elijah have been around guns pretty much all their lives from the time they could go hunting with their dad
She's a good shot
So is Elijah
He's shooting his dad's Glock
Bang bang
Shoot shoot

Elijah's target
Killed it
Shelby kept shooting until she hit the bull's eye head shot
That's what I'm talkin' about
Neil did very well
July 24
Neil and son in law Kerry took Knox to the range the next day

Neil and I browsed at the Nashville Flea Market
where you can buy just about anything
Nice lawn and garden tools
if you don't mind a little rust
You'd have to be a certified junker to take the time to look through all this
Or you can just wait for something to jump out at you
Wildlife photo shoot
Funniest thing I saw all day
Little Miss Sunshine
Lunch
Nothing like a flea market hot dog
A dissected frog on a plaque
and some spare body parts
There might be a story here somewhere
Some of my most favorite childhood nightmares
Creature from the Black Lagoon
King Kong
Dracula
The Werewolf
The Mummy
Thank goodness Superman is here to save the day
This is what happens when you don't drive your truck to the flea market
You discover these two awesome hand carved shelves just laying around in the dust
calling to you <You want me>< You need me>< Take me home with you>
<The price is right>
so who can resist even if they're each 85+ inches long
and your ride today is your little Honda CR-V
You make them fit inside the ride
and hope you don't rear end anyone on the interstate on the way home

July 27
My sister Jane and her hubby Don
celebrated their 34th
This was their engagement photo
way back in ... '85

He received his schedule of classes this morning
and he's happy with all his teachers
Last year of middle school

Shelby is ready for her very first semester of college next month
despite the registration glitches she's experienced
She's happy with her class schedule so far
Well, except for that one 8AM class

Yes he hates having his picture taken these days

High fives
as we say goodbye
to July

I have lived pain, and my life can tell: I only deepen the wound of the world when I neglect to give thanks the heavy perfume of wild roses in early July and the song of crickets on summer humid nights and the rivers that run and the stars that rise and the rain that falls and all the good things that a good God gives.
