WISH YOU WERE HERE ~ Picture Postcards From Florida ~ Part 2

On the beach, you can live in bliss. ~Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys

Beautiful day in the neighborhood
Kelly and Kerry took a walk
Shelby claimed her spot in the shade of the umbrella
Knox wanted to build a sand castle here, but the sea continued to rush onto the shore, creating rivers and lakes and leaving our beach bags and towels soggy. Two or three times we had to rescue flip flops floating away like boats down the beach. High tide indeed.
Grandpa always agrees to help build a sand castle (which they had to relocate to the dry sand behind the chairs).
Elijah skimming the little river running behind the chairs
And Grandpa always gets abandoned to build the sand castle alone after grandson Knox loses interest and moves on to more exciting adventures. Nice job!

Lunch!
A sign in desperate need of commas. Don't even think about bringing your glass pets to the beach.

Sunday was another great day to be in the water ~ not as calm as the water on Saturday, though. The waves this day were fun to ride until an unpredictable giant rose up and smacked you upside the head, or in my case, completely washing over my head.
Boogie Boy Elijah
Sure did enjoy the blessings of this day.

Kimbroughs ~ Kelly, Kerry, and Knox

Moi and daughter Kelly ~ our tops make my eyes go all googly
A flock of pterodactyls pelicans
The sea was angry that day, my friend. Red flag. We didn't venture into the water what little time we actually had on the beach this morning before the rain came.

Neil and Elijah practiced some pitching and catching

Three and a half men ~ Kelly tried to get them to all hold hands together, but they wouldn't agree to that for some strange reason.
Group shot ~ Kelly had only 3 seconds to run back into the picture before the shutter clicked
Group shot II ~ So she set the timer for a good 10 seconds for this one
It Came From Under The Sand In The Sea ~ a creepy crawly beach creature ~ looked like a crab to me but what do I know?
We took a picture of each other taking a picture of each other
Beach Dude Knox
Straight Outta Destin
Beach Peeps Shelby, Knox, and Elijah
Sis and Bro

When it rains on your beach parade ~ video games! And then you go shopping at the Commons
Get a load of these vacationers ~ 30+ flags ~ someone wants everyone to know where they stand on everything from sports teams to branches of the military to America in general. I love a Patriot. LSU, not so much. Don't tread of me, y'all.
Neil, Kelly, and Shelby headed back down to the shore late this afternoon after we got back from the shops. Sun was out. But the sea was still angry, my friend.
I love the beach. I love the sea. All my life I live within - in front of the sea.  ~Rafael Nadal

AT THE BEACH ~ LAST DAY ~ SUNDAY, AUGUST 14, 2016 ~ DESTIN, FLORIDA

God blessed us with another sunny day at the beach ~ even more beautiful than yesterday and totally storm/rain/black cloud free
Knox, Kerry, and Kelly enjoyed some pool time first ~ Kerry launches Knox into the water ~ this kid has become a water baby this summer ~ thanks for the picture, Kelly!
Knox and Grandpa started another project ~ the original idea was to build Noah's ark
Beach clouds are the best
Kelly and Kerry nested in their circle of shade ~ today was hot and sunny and very windy ~ red flags were flying again
Collecting water for the project
He made several trips ~ serious business
Noah's ark or Noah's submarine/castle/thing?
Super vivid effect ~ sky reflecting in the waves
Supervising the project
Kelly using that life vest to lift Knox over the rough waves ~ Knox had a great time in the ocean
The completed project ~ hard to categorize this ~ so you be the judge ~ the Titanic maybe?
Our beach chair neighbor became agitated with the gulls trying to steal her food ~ she ran back and forth, shooing them away, while I took pictures [I thought great! Maybe I can get some shots of gulls in flight]
This was the only decent shot I managed to snap ~ but the beach chair neighbor lady was pretty entertaining
One last dip in the sea ~ thanks, Kelly, for the picture
Parting shot ~ Always hate to say goodbye to the beach ~ Hope to return again someday
Mellow Mushroom for our last supper ~ that's my Kozmic Karma ~ Delish! ~ Our server was a sweet and gracious young woman from Italy who spoke English beautifully in her Italian accent ~ here in America to earn some money ~ she's been here since May and is more than ready to go back home in two weeks ~ apparently Italians come here to study engineering or dentistry ~ she was into dentistry ~ also apparently American coffee is the pits ~ she was looking forward to Italian coffee ~ I enjoyed hearing her speak
Destin Commons ~ Bass Pro shark ~ thanks for the selfie, Kelly!
Family Kimbrough and Jaws
Kelly and Knox racing around at the go-cart place across the street from Gulfgate ~ thanks for the picture, Kerry!
Here we are already at the end of our vacation ~ always flashes by, doesn't it? ~ Nothing left to do but pack it all up again and head north to Tennessee in the morning
Ciao, Destin!
